Client spotlight: Slug-A-Bug

We at Z Corp PR & Digital are happy to have our headquarters on Florida’s picturesque Space Coast. This area is known for its beaches and for the thriving space industry. It’s a place where people can stand on the ocean shore and watch rockets streak into orbit.

There’s one other thing you’re bound to see here. As you walk through Brevard County neighborhoods, you’re likely to notice lots of little signs that say “Slug-A-Bug” stuck into people’s lawns. They’re everywhere.

We’re proud to have Slug-A-Bug as one of our valued Z Corp clients. The company provides our community with top-notch pest control and lawn services. Its vans are highly recognizable on the Space Coast, displaying the face of Katie, a termite-sniffing dog that served the business in years gone by.

Z Corp provides Slug-A-Bug with an array of services, including social media marketing, editorial, business development and video. 

Slug-A-Bug enjoys near-legendary status around here for obliterating termites, cockroaches, ants, wasps, fleas, bedbugs, centipedes or any other unwanted arthropods crawling around a person’s abode. The team also controls rodents, de-infesting homes all across the county. 

The company’s lawn services are in demand here as their many customers enjoy lush, green turf free of destructive pests and weeds. And best of all, Slug-A-Bug uses methods that are easy on the environment, with minimal impact. (After all, they have to live here, too.)

Slug-A-Bug President Steve Lum has worked in the pest control industry for a long time, having also served as President of the Florida Pest Management Association. That organization honored him as its Director of the Year twice in five years, which is quite a recognition. Steve’s expertise in this field is without question.

One of the things we really like about Slug-A-Bug is its unwavering commitment to this community. The company provides treatments at no charge to Habitat for Humanity, and also offers free services to such nonprofits as Nana’s House (a shelter for abused, needy and abandoned children), National Veterans Homeless Support and the Children’s Hunger Project. They also sponsor events at the Brevard Zoo and donate to several other community organizations. Truly a class act.

Slug-A-Bug started “slugging bugs” back in 1982, when the late Doug Vander Poest founded the company. He had graduated from Cornell University in 1975 and started working for Brevard-area pest control companies before deciding to start up his own business. Over the years, Slug-A-Bug grew steadily into a strong, respected service provider on the Space Coast. We’re happy to help them today with their PR and digital marketing needs.
